Educate Prospective Donors
- Share the achievements and goals of the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship and The Wellness Community through your personal fundraising page.

Send Personalized Fundraising Letters
- Create a solicitation letter to send to prospective donors, be sure to include your personal stories and motivations for your support of Breakaway from Cancer.
- Email the letter to friends and family through your personal fundraising site.
- Follow up with phone calls to friends or family that have not responded to your letter.

Raise Funds for Breakaway from Cancer™
Sunday, February 10, 2008 • Palo Alto, CA
Join 11-time Tour de France veteran George Hincapie for the 2008 Breakaway from Cancer™ fundraising ride in Palo Alto. CA. The Breakaway from Cancer™ charity ride, sponsored by Amgen to benefit non-profit partners The Wellness Community and the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship, will feature a 25-mile course and finish line festivities.

All participants are required to raise a minimum amount of $150 and will receive a custom Breakaway from Cancer™ cycling jersey!
Course description
Starting at the Stanford Blood Center in Palo Alto, the 25-mile Breakaway from Cancer Fundraising rider course will follow cycling friendly roads and bike lanes around the popular “Portola Loop.” With rolling hills throughout the course, the ride will start out heading west on Juniperro Serra Blvd and Alameda de Las Pulgas going through Stanford and Menlo Park before turning south into the heavily forested Town Woodside. After a brief stop at the mid-way aid station, the course will continue around the loop passing through the Portola Valley and past the open land near the Arastradero Preserve before finishing back at the Stanford Blood Center. Along the way, riders will experience some of the most scenic views that the Palo Alto Area has to offer. Click here to view a course map.

Fundraising Incentives:
- All fundraisers who raise $400 will receive a Breakaway from Cancer jersey autographed by George Hincapie.
- All fundraisers who raise $750 will receive access to a special Meet and Greet with George Hincapie before the ride on Sunday, February 10, 2008.
- The first 10 fundraisers who raise $1,500 will have the opportunity to start in 1st wave and ride with George Hincapie and will receive 2 VIP Hospitality passes for a Bay Area stop of the Amgen Tour of California.
- The individual who raises the most money will receive a Giant Road Bike and opportunity to ride in the motorcade on one stage of the Amgen Tour of California.
All contributions will go to The Wellness Community and the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship to support free services and programs that help people living with cancer.
