LIVESTRONG Challenge

Amgen expanded the reach of its Breakaway from Cancer initiative through sponsorship of the Lance Armstrong Foundation’s 2009 LIVESTRONG Challenges, which took place in four U.S. cities from June through October and raised more than $10.2 million.

Amgen hosted a Breakaway from Cancer tent in the LIVESTRONG Villages at each of the four LIVESTRONG Challenge events in Seattle, San Jose, Philadelphia, and Austin. Amgen’s Breakaway from Cancer nonprofit partners were able to share information about the free services they offer to the thousands of people affected by cancer who attended the events.

The LIVESTRONG Challenge is the Lance Armstrong Foundation’s signature fundraising event that offers organized walks, runs, bicycle rides, volunteer, donation and awareness-raising opportunities for people and organizations wanting to get involved in the fight against cancer.
